Planning for Central Library Renewal has been underway for many years.

Most recently, in 2008, the RPL Board of Directors identified Central Library as a strategic priority. Since then, RPL has completed studies, assessments, engagement, planning, and project work to determine how Central Library can best serve Regina into the future.

This history shows a consistent direction: Central Library is essential to the library system, the current building has reached its limits, and Regina needs a modern Central Library that can support strong library service for generations.

We are currently gathering our project history information. Check back soon or contact us if you are looking for a specific document.

What happens next?

Community input input and support will be an important part of shaping Regina’s next Central Library. As planning continues, RPL will engage residents, library users, community organizations, partners and stakeholders to understand what the community wants and needs from its future library.
